Arts in Motion-Terrance Jones

"In my work, I love to explore the space between reality and imagination through both portraiture and abstraction. While my portraits seek to capture the visual truth of a person in a real but sometimes whimsical way, my abstract pieces aim to explore the neurographic connections between art, medicine, and science, Exploring feelings, healing, and energy through artistic expression.
I am drawn to how the two practices complement each other; portraiture informs the gestural marks in my abstracts, while the free flow of abstraction allows me to experiment and play while pushing the boundaries of representation in my portraits. Using acrylic paints and mixed media, I construct layers that both reveal and conceal, creating a feeling of history and depth, much like the intricate layers that build a person's identity.
Ultimately, I want my work to invite moments of contemplation and curiosity that lead to healing. Encouraging viewers to find their own connections between the seen and the unseen, the solid and the emotional."
